About Modular Current Inc.
Who publishes modularcurrent.com, what we write about, and how the page you just read is funded.
What we do
Modular Current Inc. is a small publishing company in Boston, Massachusetts. We write plain, practical explainers about the parts of a web browser most people never open: the site-settings pages, the permission ledgers, the extension list, and the third-party traffic that decides what a page actually shows you.
Our test for every piece is the same. Could a reader with no technical background follow it on their own machine, and would the advice still be correct if they never spent a cent? If the answer to either question is no, the piece is not finished.
How this page is funded
modularcurrent.com is an advertorial site. Articles here sit alongside paid placements, and Modular Current Inc. may be compensated when a reader installs an App through a link we publish. We label those placements as advertisements rather than burying the relationship, and we keep the instructional part of every article free of any requirement to buy something.
What that funding does not buy is the factual content. Browser menu paths, permission behaviour and the limits of what any extension can do are described as they are, including the parts that are inconvenient for an advertiser.
What we publish
- Step-by-step audits of browser permissions across Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
- Explainers on where interruptions originate — page elements, browser dialogs, or third-party requests.
- Honest comparisons of built-in settings against extensions, including where each one stops.
- Maintenance routines that keep a browser profile readable over time.
Corrections
Browsers change between releases, and a menu path that was right last quarter can move. If you find something on this site that no longer matches what you see on screen, write to us and we will check it and update the page.
